Katia Koziara is a director, producer, and creative development professional based in Los Angeles. Her strength is character-driven work, and she brings that same intuition and instinct to every project she develops — whether she's in the director's chair or the producer's seat. She's drawn to stories that don't flinch from complexity, with themes such as inherited trauma, queer identity, artistic ambition, and the weight of family.
Katia brings a rare, end-to-end fluency to production: budgeting, 1st AD work, directing, and producing, all informing one another. The result is a producer who anticipates problems before they exist, and a director who knows exactly how to solve them.

The Details
I can come on before a script is ready — in fact, that's often where I do my best work. Every project starts in the same place: understanding what the artist is trying to say — the why now, the point of view. From there, the process unfolds in stages:
I work primarily in narrative short and feature film, with additional experience in commercial and music video production. Within narrative, I'm drawn to character-driven work — stories where the internal life of a person is the engine of the piece, across both comedy and drama. I have a particular passion for projects that center women's voices and LGBTQ+ perspectives, and I believe the best stories come from specificity of experience.
My production skill set spans the full lifecycle of a project:
Software
Movie Magic Suite · Showbiz Budgeting · Final Draft · Google Suite · Shotdeck · Adobe Premiere · Microsoft Office · Mac OS
Yes — I'm available for hire on a project basis. Rates for narrative film and music video work are subject to project budget; commercial rates are available upon inquiry. To discuss a project, reach out directly via the contact section below.
Absolutely — I'd love to collaborate. Reach out via the contact section below with your project and let's talk.
I'm primarily based in Los Angeles, with strong ties to New York and Washington D.C. I'm comfortable working across all three markets and accustomed to the rhythms of both coasts.
Absolutely — some of my most rewarding collaborations have been with first-time feature directors. I believe strong producing is especially valuable when a director is navigating a new scale, and I bring the experience to anticipate what they'll need before they know to ask for it. For short film work, I typically collaborate with directors who have prior short film experience under their belt.
Yes — with the right conversation upfront. There's no hard budget floor, but micro-budget work requires a grounded, honest dialogue about expectations and non-negotiables from day one.
I'd love to — international projects are very much on the horizon. I also speak conversational Italian, which would be fun to put to use on the right project.
